Doctors on Demand have qualified Australian doctors that are available 24/7 and can assist with:

• Medical advice and consultations
• Prescriptions
• Referrals to specialists
• Medical certificates
• In language consultations

Appointment limits are based on your membership type:

• Single policies: Up to 12 appointments per calendar year
• Single Parent or Couple policies: Up to 24 appointments per calendar year
• Family policies: Up to 30 appointments per calendar year

You can book a session anytime, 24/7, through the Doctors on Demand online platform. Head to the Doctors on Demand platform platform and select ‘Speak to a doctor now’ or choose a time that suits you. You’ll be asked to register to the Doctors on Demand Platform. Follow the prompts including completing a short medical history questionnaire and providing your Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) details if you have them. Make sure you have your AIA OVHC member number ready as you will be asked to enter it to redeem your free appointments. You can find your member number on the AIA Health Overseas Visitors portal.

No additional cost applies for eligible OVHC Overseas Workers Standard Cover members. Appointments are included in your cover, subject to your annual appointment limit.

Yes. Doctors can issue prescriptions, referrals, and medical certificates as needed, based on your consultation

Once your annual appointment limit is reached, AIA Health will no longer cover the fees for your appointments. You can still book appointments once your appointment limit has been reached, however, additional appointments will be charged the private fee rate for Doctors on Demand. If you are unsure how many appointments you have remaining you can contact us on 1800 161 170.

Yes. Doctors on Demand have over 200 doctors who speak 25+ different languages. When you book an appointment, you can choose a language that you are comfortable with. Please note, your preferred language might not be available 24/7.

Doctors on Demand have doctors available 24/7, 365 days a year. Doctor availability may vary, but appointments are usually available within an hour.

When you have an appointment with Doctors on Demand your doctor may give you a referral for pathology or radiology (imaging) if appropriate

The referral form will be emailed to you following your appointment. You can take this form to your local imaging or pathology clinic. once you have had the test(s) completed, you will then need to notify Doctors on Demand via phone or email, letting them know where you have had these tests completed so that they can follow up to obtain your results. Once Doctors on Demand have received your results, they will advise the referring doctor.

Yes, you can request a female or male doctor using the filter on the Doctors on Demand appointment booking screen.

If you’re a visitor to Australia and you don’t have an IHI, you can apply for one with Services Australia here. Having an IHI improves the security and efficiency of managing personal health information and enables accessto eScripts (electronic scripts). Please note, if you don’t have an IHI and you are issued a prescription, your consulting doctor will issue you a paper script to be dispensed at a pharmacy that suits you.
