  • Hospital excess An Excess is the amount you contribute towards your hospital admission costs (same day or overnight) before we pay your benefits. It applies per member, per calendar year. No excess is payable for children and student dependents.
  • $350 hospital co-payment per day, capped at $1400 per calendar year. Your co-payment is the amount that you must contribute each day towards the cost of hospital treatment. Gold Hospital Enhanced cover has a $350 per day co-payment, capped at $1400 per person, per calendar year. No co-payment is payable for any dependents covered under a family or single family policy.
  • Australian Government Rebate The Australian Government Rebate (AGR) is an amount the government contributes towards the cost of your private health insurance. The rebate is income and age-tested, which means your eligibility to receive it is determined by your age and how much you earn.
  • No Australian Government Rebate applied
  • Lifetime Health Cover loading Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) is a government initiative that encourages people to purchase and maintain private patient hospital cover earlier in life. If you have not taken out and maintained private patient hospital cover from the year you turn 31, you will pay a 2% LHC loading on top of your premium for every year you are aged over 30, if you decide to take out hospital cover later in life. If you have a partner on your policy, the loading is based on the average of your ages.
  • Age-based Discount If you’re between the ages of 18 and 29 you’ll receive an Age-based Discount on your hospital cover. This discount is calculated at 2% for each year you are under 30, up to a maximum of 10% for those aged between 18 and 25 and is maintained for 10 years. If you have a partner on your policy, the discount you’ll receive is based on the average of your ages.
  • 5% discount on your premium if you have AIA Vitality Simply achieve AIA Vitality Silver Status before December 31 each year to maintain the discount for the following year. If you join after September 30 in a given year, you will have until 31 December of the following year. Please see our Member Guide for more information.
  • $11.50 monthly AIA Vitality fee per eligible adult Access to AIA Vitality for up to two adult members aged 18 or over. The AIA Vitality fee is part of your premium whether the program is activated or not. To receive a quote without the 5% discount and Vitality fee, to opt out, or to purchase the product without AIA Vitality please call us on 1800 333 004.
  • $6 monthly AIA Vitality Starter fee per eligible adult Access to AIA Vitality Starter for up to two adult members aged 18 or over. The AIA Vitality Starter fee is part of your premium whether the program is activated or not. To receive a quote without the 5% discount and Vitality Starter fee, to opt out, or to purchase the product without AIA Vitality Starter please call us on 1800 333 004.
  • 30-day cooling-off period If you change your mind (and you haven’t made any claims) you can cancel your cover within 30 days of joining and you will receive a full refund by calling us on 1800 333 004.

  • my/our name and contact information by AIA Australia for the purposes of offering and providing the AIA Vitality Memberships associated with this insurance policy, in the manner contemplated by the AIA Vitality Terms and Conditions and the AIA Australia's Privacy Policy.

Are all the people on the policy eligible and listed on a Medicare card?

All the people on the policy must be listed on a Medicare card to be eligible for this cover. If you do not have Medicare eligibility, you will be unable to make hospital and medical claims on this policy. Please call us on 1800 333 004 to discuss.

Switching from another insurer

If you're switching, we will honour any waiting periods already served with your previous insurer. We can cancel your cover and get your clearance certificate from your existing health insurer.

Do you authorise AIA Health Insurance to cancel your membership with your existing health insurer?

If you do not authorise us to cancel your policy on your behalf, you will need to cancel your policy with your previous health insurer and send your Clearance Certificate to us at Health.MemberServices@aia.com.au. This Certificate outlines details of your previous cover, including any waiting periods you’ve served, the type of cover you held and your claims history. You can start claiming on services that you’re eligible for as soon as we receive this certificate.
